The Mack family also has a 35+ year history in the Phoenix MSA, having developed and/or acquired millions of square feet of industrial, office and retail product in addition to what MREG has undertaken in Phoenix over the last five years. Summary The Senior Associate serves as the senior tax and compliance professional for Halo Vista, reporting directly to the President of Halo Vista. This individual will establish, administer, and oversee Arizona Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) strategy and compliance for one of the nation's largest master-planned developments. The role serves as the primary liaison between Halo Vista and the City of Phoenix Economic Development as well as Finance teams and Halo Vista tenants, purchasers, operators and contractors to ensure compliance among all constituents with the City’s TPT reporting requirements to ensure Halo Vista is able to collect over $500 million of TPT reimbursements. Essential Functions Serve as the Company's subject matter expert on Arizona Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT). Manage all TPT licensing, business classifications, filings, renewals, amendments, location-based reporting, and payments through AZTaxes.gov. Review development agreements, purchase and sale agreements, reimbursement agreements, utility agreements, easements, leases, construction contracts, and public improvement agreements for TPT implications. Oversee TPT compliance for land development, horizontal infrastructure, industrial development, commercial operations, utilities, and all future vertical development. Prepare, review, and reconcile TPT returns, accruals, general ledger accounts, forecasts, deductions, exemptions, credits, refunds, and supporting schedules. Lead responses to Arizona Department of Revenue audits, refund claims, voluntary disclosures, and regulatory inquiries related to TPT while maintaining audit-ready documentation. Report directly to the President of Halo Vista and serve as the project's senior advisor on Arizona Transaction Privilege Tax matters. Qualifications CPA is preferred, but not required. 5+ years of Arizona TPT, indirect tax, or development accounting experience. Experience with commercial real estate development, master-planned communities, construction, or infrastructure strongly preferred. Strong understanding of Arizona TPT and municipal development agreements Effective interpersonal, communication (verbal, written, and listening skills) Strong fluency and working knowledge of land development, and construction management processes and procedures and scheduling Analytical problem-solving skills capable to undertake detailed analyses and make well-reasoned, decisive recommendations Possession of time management skills required to prioritize, organize, and balance competing deadlines Ability to multi-task in a complex, high-volume environment, and competency to work with all levels of management and personnel Proficient in MS Office Required Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field.
