Phlebotomist - 20 or 40 Hours/Week - Afternoons/Evenings

Job Summary Location: Jennie Edmundson Medical Plaza, 808 E Pierce St., Council Bluffs, IA. Schedule: Afternoon/Evening shift 12:30pm-9:00pm. Rotates every third weekend and holidays. 20 or 40 hours weekly; can be 2‑20 hour shifts, or 1‑40 hour shift. Discussed in interview. Benefits Eligibility: Full‑time benefits available. Assist in daily workload and maintain compliance with PPE guidelines. Ensure timely sample collection, documentation, and adherence to turnaround time expectations. Respond to patient and laboratory needs professionally and flexibly. Document orientation, training, and education to ensure competency and meet accreditation requirements. Complete organizational and department competencies 100% of the time. Read and understand new procedures and revisions. Answer telephones, take messages, forward information, and handle calls promptly per customer service protocol. Identify problems and initiate follow‑up with Phlebotomy Leadership to ensure accurate, timely laboratory services. Meet required annual Continuing Education hours. Education High School diploma, GED, or equivalent. Preferred combination of education and experience; required for CAP surveyors only. Participation in mandatory in‑services and continuing education programs as directed by Leadership. Experience At least 6 months of phlebotomy experience qualifying for ASCP certification, or approved equivalent certification. OR completion of an ASCP‑approved phlebotomy training course, or equivalent including LPN, RN, or MA experience. Routine venipuncture experience preferred. Routine dermal puncture experience preferred. Licenses/Certifications ASCP certification or equivalent. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Strong attention to detail. Willingness to adjust schedule/shift and pick up open shifts to meet patient needs. Physical Requirements Medium work: exert up to 50 pounds of force.
