Signs and Markings Technician I (Multiple Positions)

* Receives daily work and prepares materials and equipment.* Performs maintenance on road markings, tools, and machinery.* Installs pavement markings on roadways, parking lots, athletic courts, and airports according to specifications and other various requirements.* Operates all equipment to install pavement markings. Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Performs pre-trip/ post trip inspections on tools, equipment, and machinery.* Calculates field measurements using engineered plans, maps, aerial photographs, or satellite images.* Installs, removes, and replaces signs as needed.* Documents daily work in work order software.* Performs traffic control.* Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local codes; City practices, policies, and procedures including construction, customer service; and DIG TESS safety procedures and policies including ATSSA and TMUCD.* Skill in oral and written communication.* Skill in the installation of bike corrals/racks, road cushions, traffic legends, symbols, and vertical delineation devices.* Skill in the layout of Roadway Markings Plans.* Skill in the use of fabrication equipment and use of fabrication software design programs and CAD programs.* Skill in the use of hand tools.* Skill in the use of informational databases to track items or monitor progress.* Ability to accurately log and report work progress, materials, labor hours, etc. with or without the use of computer software.* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and the public.* Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work environment.* Ability to operate and use all safety equipment and specialty installation equipment.* Ability to perform Striper Coning functions.* Ability to test and calibrate instruments to make precision and close tolerance repairs and adjustments.* Ability to use cell phones, two-way radios, and other communications equipment.* Must have a Texas Commercial Driver License or ability to obtain within five (5) months of employment or approved extension by Department Director or designee.* Valid Texas Driver License.* Ability to perform technically detailed tasks in Traffic Signs and Roadway Markings operations.* Experience using Traffic Signs installation and maintenance equipment such as hammer drills, socket wrenches and similar.* Experience using Roadway Markings installations and maintenance equipment, such as surface grinders, push carts, spray rigs, long-line striping trucks.* Experience using bucket truck in traffic whilst performing banner, overhead sign installation or tree trimming.* Experience using computer devices to complete daily work assignments and upload files.A detailed and complete employment application is required to help us better evaluate your qualifications and will be **used to determine salary** if you are selected for this position.
