PT - Workforce Specialist

Summary of Function: This position advances the mission of Arizona Western College's Entrepreneurial College by supporting Regional Center operations and coordinating workforce development to include Adult Education and community education initiatives throughout La Paz County. The position develops, coordinates, and delivers workforce-focused education through instruction, workshops, and strategic partnerships that prepare students for employment, career advancement, and lifelong learning. Typical Duties: Serves Students. Serves as the primary point of contact for prospective and current students, employers, and community members by providing exceptional customer service and information on workforce training, continuing education, community education, and career pathway opportunities. Assists students with admissions, registration, advising, onboarding, and navigation of workforce and educational programs while connecting them to academic, financial, career, wellness, and community resources that support persistence, credential attainment, employment, and lifelong learning. Builds meaningful relationships through ongoing communication and follow-up to promote student success and meet regional workforce needs. Coordinates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of workforce training, continuing education, and community education programs. Collaborates with Advisory Board, College leadership, Regional Center staff, employers, and community stakeholders to assess workforce and educational needs, identify emerging opportunities, and implement programs that support student success and strengthen the communities of La Paz County. Coordinates instructor hiring, class scheduling, classroom and instructional logistics, professional development for instructors, and program documentation to ensure high-quality program delivery from planning through completion. Develops and facilitates workshops, orientations, and informational sessions that support student success, workforce readiness, and community education. Teaches Continuing Education, workforce development, or community education courses as qualified and assigned. Maintains instructional records and collaborates with colleagues to deliver engaging, high-quality educational experiences that meet student and community needs. Develops and implements outreach, recruitment, and communication strategies to increase awareness of Arizona Western College's Continuing Education, Adult Education, and workforce programs throughout La Paz County. Represents the College at schools, businesses, workforce events, and community activities. Builds partnerships with employers, educational institutions, workforce agencies, tribal partners, and community organizations to expand career pathways, customized training, and educational opportunities that prepare individuals for employment and career advancement. Maintains accurate student, instructor, course, and program records using institutional systems and databases. Supports guided pathways by tracking student progress, maintaining educational records, and assisting with data analysis to evaluate program effectiveness, workforce outcomes, and student success. Prepares reports, correspondence, purchasing documents, requisitions, inventories, grant documentation, and operational records. Assists with testing coordination, compliance, record retention, data reporting, and other administrative functions that support departmental operations and continuous improvement. Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives, and performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree and one year of full-time work experience working with outreach, education, or related field, OR High school diploma or equivalent AND three years of work experience in outreach, education, or related field An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered Applicants may indicate any additional language proficiencies in their application materials, including English/Spanish, as relevant to the position Additional Eligibility Requirements: Arizona Driver’s License or Equivalent Classification: Non-Exempt Position Type & Work Schedule: Part-time Up to 19 hours per week Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications especially those specific to the department operations Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one’s own time Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development Ability to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment Ability to provide assistance in a professional, civil, and supportive manner Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting, and to relate to others in a professional manner Ability to be flexible and supportive, positively and proactively assimilate change in rapid growth environment Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected information and follow FERPA and privacy guidelines Ability to supervise and schedule the work of others Ability to adapt to a dynamic workload and demands Ability to adapt and maintain professional composure in emergent situations Ability to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and civility in all job-related actions Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, and collaborative relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, students, and the public Inside office environment with normal noise and lighting levels Work is performed in an open office environment with staff, students, and community contact and interruptions Working environment may include various locations across the service district, with varying noise levels, indoor and/or outdoor locations as needed to support program, department or institutional needs Must be able to perform duties in a variety of weather conditions Physical Demands: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking May lift, carry, push, and/or pull, at times a minimum of 10 pounds Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or twist Safely and appropriately operate golf carts or district vehicles Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises Travel: Required to travel to other locations using various modes of private, commercial, or fleet transportation, and as needed to support program, department and institutional needs Note: Location: Parker and Quartzite Learning Centers The statements within this document describe the general nature, level, and type of work performed by the individual(s) assigned to this classification and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, demands, and skills required of personnel so classified The institution and its designated representatives reserve the right to add, delete, or modify any and/or all provisions of this description at any time as needed without notice
