Responsibilities Perform forensic assignments within the field of architecture/facility design based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work. Perform on‑site architectural systems evaluations and inspections to determine the cause and origin of failed, defective, damaged, or potential resultant damage due to architectural components, and produce written forensic reports detailing the findings. Field investigations: study and determine the cause and origin of construction defects or structural failures. Prepare oral and written reports to document the causes of failure, extent of loss, associated repair scope, and recommended remediation; provide opinions and expert testimony in litigation matters. Manage multiple projects, coordinating with other experts and supports as needed to produce client reports in a timely manner. Ensure that procedures are followed and perform safety due‑diligence of the project during the time it is being completed. Use many different equations, applications, and figures which may include drafting and design software. Initiate, develop, and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships. Gather photographic evidence, conduct investigations to document on‑site conditions, oversee field testing, and review historical documentation. Required Skills and Abilities Valid driver's license and reliable form of transportation. High level of analytical skills; continual attention to detail with ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (internal and external). Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Office and computer‑assisted engineering and design software. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical reports or journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write scopes‑of‑work, budget estimates, schedules, reports of findings, proposals, general correspondence, and other technical documents. Ability to respond to inquiries from internal and external clients; present information effectively to top management, clients, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Required Experience, Education, and Certifications B.S. Architecture degree or higher required. Registered Architect Certification required. 2‑10+ years of experience individually or combined as an architect in the technical design of building envelope systems for construction documents, construction administrative services, and/or project management of building construction.
