Project Manager

Overview WH Bass is an employee‑owned general‑contractor seeking an experienced commercial Project Manager (PM). The PM coordinates preconstruction and construction activities throughout the project and serves as the primary point of contact between WH Bass, the owner, engineers, and architects. Responsibilities The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties: Partnering with the estimating department throughout the bidding process and handoff of awarded projects Review subcontract bids for completeness, revise as necessary and negotiate the best possible contract with subcontractors and material suppliers Establish and maintain a working relationship with the customer, based on a commitment to industry‑leading customer service that results in complete customer satisfaction and future project opportunities Develop and maintain a project schedule consistent with contractual requirements, creating and maintaining a schedule pace that will ensure timely completion Conduct periodic job meetings during construction with appropriate parties Partner with the Superintendent, assist with job‑specific procedures and adjust progress as necessary to ensure timely completion of the project Ensure that both WH Bass and the customer’s objectives are being met throughout the project Travel as necessary for face‑time with the customer, superintendent and to ensure quality standards are being met Ensure a strong project closure by proactively determining and executing the customer’s requirements for “turn over.” Qualifications and Education Requirements Minimum of 3 to 5 years of project management experience with restaurant, petroleum/convenience store, bank/credit union, and retail projects; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Building operations experience: field operations, construction methods, scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control, production of all phases and project closeout; estimating experience and ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, as well as develop sub‑bid packages, negotiate, and award sub‑contracts People skills to perform under pressure, evaluate situations, and make timely, accurate decisions; full understanding and ability to interact with all departments to ensure each team member has the information required to perform their responsibilities effectively, including assisting in establishing goals and priorities for the team Customer relationship skills: establish positive relationships with clients and provide industry‑level customer service Business development: participate in business development presentations to future, past, and current customers Financial understanding: understand project cost reporting systems and use them to accurately communicate the financial status of a project Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organized with strong problem‑solving skills; computer proficiency in Windows environment Degree in Construction Management preferred but not required Benefits WH Bass offers industry‑leading compensation and a full range of benefits, including medical, dental, 401(k), and paid time off.
