Overview Plant sanitation hands‑on leader, expert and advocate. Deploy, monitor and enhance sanitation programs to assure processes are effective and meet company standards. Lead sanitation crews to coordinate CIP and manual cleaning activities, partner training, inspection and continuous process improvement. Responsibilities Lead plant sanitation activities and coordinate with sanitation crews, leadership, production, maintenance, quality and other functions to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and plant before resuming operation. Ensure sanitation processes are deployed effectively and efficiently, and are performed to the highest standards. Train and coach crew performance through performance feedback. Monitor compliance through hands‑on monitoring, inspection, swabbing and coaching. Maintain and administer plant sanitation records and use them as a tool to monitor performance and improve sanitation practices. Execute pre‑operation inspection, equipment swabbing, environmental monitoring and other associated activities. Administer, maintain and monitor conformance to the Master Sanitation Schedule. Work closely with production and maintenance partners to establish effective sanitation practices necessary to maintain a food‑safe environment. Coordinate training of sanitation and janitorial partners on required job responsibilities. Deploy plant training modules; utilize internal resources and external expertise for partner development. Evaluate performance of existing suppliers of cleaning agents and technologies in partnership with internal experts and suppliers. Optimize resources through effective scheduling and coordination of lean but effective sanitation processes. Maintain a safe work environment by deploying and monitoring JHA, lock‑out/tag‑out, and MSDS training and monitoring processes. Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans and customer requirements, and interpret and communicate customer requirements to plant production or support groups. Establish and audit PCPs, CCPs and SOPs to define and monitor processes, ensuring customer requirements are met. Review incidents where procedures are not met and determine appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures. Qualifications High school or GED; a technical degree in Food, Dairy, Biology, Chemistry or related field preferred. 3–7 years of experience in food manufacturing with a focus on sanitation or quality control preferred. Experience with federal or state governmental compliance audit positions related to food manufacturing a plus. Food plant sanitation certification; pest and rodent control licenses a plus. Proficient in sanitation procedures and GMP/IAB requirements. Clear understanding of quality, OSHA, FDA and USDA food safety requirements. Strong teaching skills for specific sanitation procedures. Strong decision‑making ability and ability to work with limited direction. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop cohesive working relationships with partners who do not directly report to them. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Effective communicator. Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
