Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for a night shift position requiring 18 months of NICU experience and IN or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Level III NICU within the Pediatrics Department
• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (6:00 PM-6:30 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Cares for neonates across all gestational ages, including those under 24-28 weeks and over 34 weeks
• Required to float within the Pediatrics department and NICU, and potentially to affiliate hospitals nearby
• Works every other weekend
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Attends high-risk deliveries

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• BLS and NRP or NRP Advanced certifications required
• STABLE certification preferred
• Minimum 1.5 years of NICU experience required
• Community hospital experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and neonatal medication administration
• Experience with ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, and other respiratory support modalities preferred
• Experience with therapeutic hypothermia, NEC, and neonatal sepsis management preferred
• Nursing degree from a college or university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• Two supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care to neonates including high-risk deliveries, respiratory support, and complex medication administration
• Perform developmental care, patient/family teaching, and phlebotomy as needed
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
