Aviation Security Manager , North America Aviation Security Job ID: 3198379 | Amazon.com Services LLC The Amazon Aviation Security (AvSec) team is seeking an enthusiastic AvSec Manager to provide leadership and oversight for Amazon Air’s (AIR) cargo transportation business. The AvSec Manager will be responsible for defining and driving new initiatives for the transportation supply chain involving Amazon owned and third‑party delivery methods. This role includes independently determining risk‑based security standards, interpreting and applying airport and federal regulations, and making decisions regarding compliance approaches and standardized processes. The AvSec Manager serves as the interface between AIR and AvSec leadership, exercising independent judgment in identifying, reporting, and correcting non‑compliances and deficiencies. They will serve as the point of contact for regulatory engagement, lead corrections of non‑compliance with established security policies and procedures, and develop and improve processes to ensure operational integrity. The AvSec Manager supports the AIR operation program as the subject matter expert on interpreting, implementing, and validating security requirements. They ensure associates, third‑party vendors, visitors, and assets (people, property, and data) are secure and the organization is prepared to respond to various security incidents. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, utilize security expertise and management strength to challenge conventional wisdom, think strategically, and communicate effectively. Key Job Responsibilities Prioritize team resources and tasks to meet AvSec’s targets and goals in an ambiguous environment. Lead the business to meet aviation security best practices, regulatory compliance, and serve as a subject matter expert in aviation security. Contribute to hiring and developing the workforce to meet long‑term process targets. Identify and analyze gaps in compliance with security procedures, regulatory standards, and physical security design standards. Lead Security Management Systems (SeMS) processes for risk mitigation, develop new and evaluate existing security standards, and establish workflows, SLAs, and operational excellence mechanisms. Introduce best practices and grow with the team’s scale and scope. Additional Responsibilities Set and clarify requirements and expectations with associates and leadership at each facility. Create security and quality initiatives that continuously improve processes and mitigate deficiencies. Provide job‑specific training to associates, oversee staffing qualifications, and maintain required levels. Work closely with site leaders and support staff to ensure ongoing support for AIR security initiatives and policies. Collaborate with AIR regional leadership and 3P service providers. Manage timely, ethical, and professional investigations into security incidents and violations. Serve as Amazon’s representative for TSA inspections and inquiries; investigate allegations of regulatory violations and mitigate regulatory enforcement. Utilize SeMS to identify root causes for failures and develop mitigating actions. Conduct visits, assessments, and audits of processes and records. Implement security and shrinkage control programs to protect assets from loss due to theft and operational issues. Work 24/7 operations and be willing to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Span of Authority Oversee a single facility within a geographic region, including hiring and developing team members, supporting operational leadership, managing difficult problems, mitigating immediate risks, and deciding when escalation is required. Eligibility & Qualifications The role is regulated by the TSA and requires completion of TSA and U.S. CBP screenings. Requires unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA) and passing FAA, DHS, and TSA security screenings. Subject to Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing. Designated as a safety‑sensitive position with mandatory pre‑employment and, where permitted, post‑hire drug testing. Basic Qualifications Experience in corporate security management, transportation/supply chain operations, or aviation security. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience handling confidential information. 3+ years of experience in a security or investigations–related field, or a related bachelor’s degree. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of aviation regulatory compliance experience. 5+ years of conducting workplace risk investigations. Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level. Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem‑solving abilities. Experience with process improvements (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen). Experience with physical security controls and surveillance systems. Experience conducting investigative work, including claimant, witness, and target employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation. Analytical leader experienced in performance‑based, action‑and‑results‑oriented management, strong project management, and effective problem solving. Ability to assess risks and challenge current practices to develop and deliver innovative solutions to meet or exceed customer expectations. Business continuity experience. Benefits Location: USA, KY, Erlanger. The base salary range for this position is $74,200.00 – $129,800.00 USD annually.
