Assistant Boys Basketball Coach Location: Horizon High School

Salary: $2,431.00 Temporary Position Season Dates: 11/2/2026 - 2/6/2027 All coaches must be a district approved volunteer. Please also apply for volunteer coach/chaperone/community volunteer. Purpose Statement The job of Assistant Coach is designed to create and implement program activities in accordance with rules and regulations related to the sport; supervise student athletes during all aspects of their participation; use sound instructional techniques to oversee programs; serve as a positive role model to student athletes, the community, and various organizations. Essential Functions Assess student athletes to provide feedback and determine team placement. Attend meetings, workshops, conferences to receive and convey information. Communicate with parents, students, officials, administrators, and community to provide information and assistance. Instruct student athletes to promote growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Maintain records (e.g., game and student statistics, insurance, signed permission forms, emergency information, schedules, equipment inventories) to comply with district, athletic conference, and state requirements. Manage uniforms, equipment, and school facilities responsibly. Monitor academic eligibility to comply with AIA requirements and intervene when needed. Supervise student athletes to ensure activities have minimal risk of injury. Teach sports techniques, rules, strategies, and tactics to prepare the team and individual athletes for competition. Other Functions Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit. Work Environment Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; 20% sitting, 40% walking, 40% standing; exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury or illness.
