Freight TransporterStarting Rate of Pay: $26.23 per hourShift Times: 0100-0930, 2300-0730Position Overview:Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.Essential Functions:Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack and hand truckVerify documentation matches freight description (e.g. type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual systemSecure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope)Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessaryVerify and complete required documentation and reportsAssist customers with freight and freight documentation as neededPerform hostling duties if requiredComply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/proceduresPerform other duties as requiredDisclaimer: This job description is general in nature and is not designed to contain or to be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, essential functions and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent, preferredMust be at least 18 years of agePrior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferredIf hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferredAbility to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculatorBasic written and verbal communication skillsAbility to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or moreAbility to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shiftAbility to work independently and/or as a team memberPrevious dock/warehouse experience preferredWorking Conditions:Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noiseHours may vary due to operational needFrequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced, deadline orientedPay:Hourly: $26.23 - $31.23The compensation listed reflects the pay range or rate of pay reasonably expected for this posted position at the posted location(s).
