Tax Accountant

SUMMARY: Assists in all phases of the organization’s Federal, State and Local tax compliance and planning activities with a focus on Federal Compliance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Emphasis on Federal Tax · Prepares of Federal and State income tax and franchise tax returns for Partnerships, C Corporations, S Corporations, Trusts and individuals. · Creates tax budgets and projections. · Research tax and strategic planning opportunities related to proposed acquisitions, including ownership structures and reporting requirements. · Develops tax analysis for proposed transactions. · Prepares personal property tax filings. · Performs other related duties and assignments as required. · Provides tax advice and compliance direction as needed SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. QUALIFICATIONS: · Extensive knowledge of standard Accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. · Excellent mathematical skills. · Strong verbal and written communication skills. · Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities. · Proactive and deadline oriented. · Multi-state tax preparation experience helpful. · Experience in Real Estate and/or Construction industry preferred. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. Master’s Degree in Accounting or Tax preferred. Minimum of four (4) years of Federal and State income tax preparation experience in a large corporate setting or accounting firm. Computer skills including: internet, e-mail, (MS Outlook) MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word. Proficiency in network platform based income tax preparation software. CERTIFICATES and LICENSES: None. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to draft reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management level employees of the organization. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems solving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
