Reading Teacher

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading Teacher to join our team at Wooster Middle School. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a love of reading and literacy among students, encouraging them to develop critical thinking and comprehension skills. This full-time position requires a creative educator who can engage students in meaningful learning experiences and support their academic growth in a nurturing environment. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging reading curriculum and lesson plans that align with state standards and meet the diverse needs of students. Assess students’ reading abilities and progress through regular evaluations and observations, providing feedback to students and parents. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love of reading. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources, including technology, to enhance student learning and engagement. Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administration to support a comprehensive literacy program and promote cross-curricular connections. Provide individualized support and interventions for students who may be struggling with reading skills. Organize and participate in literacy events, book fairs, and reading challenges to promote a culture of reading within the school community. Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s development and achievements. Stay current with best practices in reading instruction and participate in professional development opportunities. Requirements CT Teaching Certification 102 required, 097 preferred. Strong knowledge of reading instruction methodologies, assessment tools, and literacy development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. Proficiency in using educational technology and software to enhance learning.
