Certified Nurse AideClassification Hourly Non-ExemptReports to Director of NursingSummary/Objective In keeping with our organization's goals, the primary purpose of the Resident Care Specialist - CNA is to deliver quality daily routine nursing care to residents requiring short-term, skilled, and long-term nursing care, as directed by the supervisor, the facility's policies and procedures, and good nursing judgment.Job DutiesProvide direct nursing care, under direct supervision/direction of a nurse, in accordance with federal and state regulations, facility policies and procedures, and prudent nursing judgmentPerform resident care duties as assigned by charge nurse, including but not limited to transporting and transferring, restocking resident room, changing linen, properly positioning resident, bathing, assisting with bowel and bladder needs, assisting with dressing, assisting with eating and hydration, taking vital signs, and caring for resident as needed or directedDocument tasks performed in accordance with organization policies and proceduresFollow appropriate infection control practicesReport any observations and pertinent information, regarding resident care and condition, to the nursing supervisor promptlyDocument observations and care delivered to residents daily, per standards of practice and facility policy and proceduresHave knowledge of and utilize of the facility's written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service departmentUtilize established methods for coordination and communication of nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents' total regimen of careParticipate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as may be directedConduct oneself in a professional manner in compliance with facility policiesEnsure that nursing interventions are performed in a timely manner. If there must be a delay, explanations for delays in answers/responses are providedProvide care in a manner that respect for the resident's dignity and privacy is consistently upheldProvide complaint/grievance reports to the Administrator as required or as may be necessaryReport occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures governing accidents and incidentsReport known or suspected incidents of fraud, abuse, neglect, and/or misappropriation to the AdministratorEnsure that departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screensaver activates within established facility policy guidelinesEnsure to refrain from disclosing assigned user ID code and password for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the AdministratorEnsure not disclose resident protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the AdministratorReport any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility's information systemRequired Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GEDMust possess a current, unencumbered, active certification to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State2 years' experience in Long-Term Care experience preferredComputer literacy skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Internet) requiredMust be able to demonstrate leadership, organizational skills, and maintain a positive and professional attitudeAbility to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyRequired SkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrate leadership, organizational skills, and ability to maintain a positive and professional attitudeAbility to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyDisplay attention to detailInteract with residents, families, and the community in a professional mannerAbility to engage in active listening (giving full attention to those speaking), critical thinking (using logic and reasoning to identify strengths/weaknesses of alternative solutions), and active learning (understanding implications of new information during problem-solving situations)Exceptional judgment and active foresightSelf-motivated and self-directedPosition Type and Expected Hours of Work This position is within a healthcare facility that operates every day. There will be scheduled times of work on the weekends and holidays. Significant events can occur at any given time that require working. Ongoing direction and support may be necessary if systems are not properly implemented, continuously improved, and monitored.Work Environment and Physical Demands This position generally will require physical activity. It may at times require walking to various locations within a facility. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and may require some use of machinery consistent with the job duties.While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
