Responsibilities The Occupational Therapist will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in‑home setting for the older adult population. The setting could be a patient's private residence or a room in an independent living facility. Powerback Rehabilitation To You allows evaluation and treatment in the most functional environment – the patient's home. The therapist organizes and conducts occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, directs patient participation, promotes skill learning, and reduces pathology. Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students and support personnel as required. Adhere to department and patient treatment schedule, complete clinical and billing documentation, and attend related meetings. Contribute to patient care and staffing conferences. Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs. Consult with rehabilitation team and community physician to select appropriate therapeutic regimens. Adapt program and plan of care to individual patient needs. Promote a safe environment and eliminate fire and safety hazards. Order supplies and equipment as necessary. Maintain, identify and report equipment repair needs. Prioritize patient service: ensure highest quality of care in a caring, compassionate atmosphere. Screen, examine and evaluate patients; design treatment goals and plan; implement treatment; document all services. Services include cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, activities of daily living, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, physical agent modalities, low vision, falls risk management, medication management, health and wellness, community integration, and case‑management skills. Design, fabricate, fit and apply adaptive devices; train patients in their use. Select appropriate activities suited to each individual's physical and mental capacity. Instruct patients in functional skills and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior. Perform routine reexamination to modify or progress the treatment plan. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards. Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice.
