Position MOT Lead Person Location Toano, VA Employment Type Full Time Hourly Travel Open to travel, primary location Toano, VA Pay $25.00/hr - $31.00/hr (Based on experience and certifications) Job Summary We are currently seeking a MOT Lead Person to join our Toano, VA team. The role focuses on heavy highway work, dirt work, grading, concrete, and transportation. The candidate will manage MOT crews and drivers, coordinate assignments, and ensure project completion. Proficiency with Excel, Heavy Jobs, and Microsoft Office is required. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred with basic reading and writing skills Valid driver’s license, acceptable motor vehicle records, and reliable transportation Experience in heavy highway construction VDOT Traffic Control Certification is required CDL A or B holder (tanker endorsement a plus) Familiar with traffic control plans, concrete work, paving, bridge construction, and other highway construction tasks Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail‑oriented Job Duties and Responsibilities Supervise, coordinate, and direct crew in MOT related tasks such as setting cones, planning out traffic patterns, and silt fences for the entire project Develop and/or assist in the development of a production schedule and oversee the execution of work assignments to meet production schedules Assist in developing a weekly schedule and carrying out the sequence of activities for road building crews and finishing operations Maintain all records required concerning production, safety, attendance, time worked by crew members, and personnel matters Ensure timely completion of work assignments within estimated costs while maintaining the company's reputation for quality workmanship Maintain safety of the crew and conduct all operations according to applicable company and government safety rules; develop and maintain a proper crew attitude through weekly planning meetings Monitor compliance by employees under supervision with all company policies; may issue disciplinary action when infractions occur, under overall approval of the project superintendent or Human Resources Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift Must be able to climb ladders Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, and crawl occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands Must be able to reach, lift, and perform work above shoulder height and work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces Must have acceptable corrected vision and hearing Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, and humid weather Job Benefits Medical/Vision/Dental Insurance Flexible Spending Accounts for Healthcare and Dependent Care Disability and Life Insurance Wellness Programs that include Orthopedic Care 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Matching Contribution Tuition Reimbursement Adoption Assistance Employee Assistance Program 8 paid holidays Paid Time Off Equal Employment Opportunity Wagman is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
