Customs Specialist

The Customs Clearance Specialist will oversee compliance and logistics functions for both international and domestic shipments at our new Louisville facility. This foundational role requires a hands‑on professional to manage customs filings, trade regulations, and freight movements while mitigating supply chain risks. The ideal candidate possesses a high sense of urgency, meticulous attention to detail, and deep expertise in US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, particularly regarding imports from China, Europe, and Mexico. Key Responsibilities Customs Compliance & Filings: Prepare, review, and approve Importer Security Filings (ISF), customs entries, and Post Summary Corrections (PSC). Financial Oversight: Manage CBP transaction reports and statements of paid and unpaid duties. Tariff & Classification Management: Classify incoming goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs). Regulatory Expertise: Ensure full compliance with automotive tariffs, Section 232 regulations, Anti‑dumping (AD) duties, Countervailing duties (CVD), and USMCA requirements. Logistics & Partner Coordination: Oversee multi‑modal freight operations across land, air, and sea. Manage the utilization, maintenance, and compliance of the company customs bond through the ACE Portal. Continuous Monitoring: Maintain updated knowledge of shifting US customs regulations and international trade laws to protect the supply chain. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics, Business, or a related field. 3 or more years of experience managing international customs clearance and compliance, specifically utilizing the ACE Portal. Proven technical expertise in HTS classification, GRIs, and managing complex trade regulations like anti‑dumping duties, countervailing duties, and automotive tariffs. Preferred Qualifications Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation. Experience working within automotive manufacturing supply chains, handling high‑volume imports from China, Mexico, and Europe. Demonstrated experience setting up trade compliance procedures for a new manufacturing facility or startup environment.
