Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into an essential role supporting students and educators in a dynamic educational environment for the 2026-2027 school year. Multiple full-time paraprofessional opportunities are open—help foster growth for learners across all grade levels. Contracts run from August 17 to June 11, with placements tailored to both students with significant and mild-to-moderate needs.
Your day-to-day may include one-on-one support in resource, self-contained, or general education settings. Many assignments involve assisting students with cognitive or emotional impairments, providing guidance and health aide-like tasks such as diapering and toileting when needed. Whether in elementary, middle, or high school classrooms, your empathy and organizational skills will make a meaningful impact.
Successful candidates will meet Flint Community’s established qualification requirements through at least one of the following:
- 60 semester hours of college credit, or
- Associate degree or higher, or
- Passing ETS Paraprofessional Assessment (minimum score: 460), or
- Meeting College Board’s SAT benchmarks (480+ in reading/writing, 530+ in math)
Bring along your unique experience in special education, 1:1 support, or classroom assistance—especially if you've worked with students facing cognitive or emotional challenges.
Responsibilities include:
- Direct, compassionate assistance to students throughout the day
- Collaboration with teachers to implement individualized learning plans
- Maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Supporting personal care tasks for students as assigned
- Flexibly adapting to varying school schedules (hours between 7:15am and 4:15pm, depending on placement)
