The position is fully remote, with travel to our St. Paul, MN home office at least twice annually. If you’re a physician who values teamwork, intellectual curiosity, and applying your expertise in new and impactful ways, we encourage you to apply.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Identify medical information relevant for claims and UW reviews, provide advanced medical knowledge and training for underwriters and claims examinersProvide decisions for UW and claims based on solid medical knowledge consistent with current guidelines, demonstrate ability to incorporate new medical knowledge into guideline updates and enhancements, includes advanced proficiency in ECG interpretationKeep current with general medical literature, develop subjects of special interestIdentify relevant medical topics, medical advances and emerging risks, provide concise relevant updates for stakeholdersContinue to develop business acumen, be proactive in identifying medical and UW-related opportunities and trends, contribute to fair risk assessment initiativesAbility and enthusiasm for teaching underwriters on medical topics, and engage with them through case discussions.Be visibly involved in the insurance medicine community and complete AAIM Diplomate Board of Insurance Medicine (DBIM) certificationRequired Qualifications:MD or DO with 5+ years clinical experienceProven ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and effectively across disciplines, including with underwriting, legal, and business teamsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment, valuing diverse expertise and perspectives while maintaining professionalism and mutual respectPreferred Qualifications:5+ years experience in insurance medicine, Board of insurance medicine candidate and/or working towards DBIMExperience with life insuranceCuriosity: The ideal candidate demonstrates intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning, consistently seeking innovative solutions and challenging conventional approaches to drive organizational growth.Demonstrated ability to approach complex problems with an inquisitive mindset and a genuine desire to explore emerging trends within the life insurance industry.AI Engagement and Integration: The successful candidate possesses a forward-thinking approach to artificial intelligence, with proven experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to enhance operational efficiency and strategic decision-making.Ability to actively champion the responsible integration of AI capabilities across teams and workflows to create meaningful business value and maintain a competitive edge.Preferred Skills:Health Administration, Medical Knowledge, Medical SpecialtyThe estimated base pay range for this job is $212,000 - $287,000. Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. This job may also be eligible for a performance-based incentive program.
