Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their owners. Responsibilities Gather patient histories Perform physical exams Create and implement treatment plans Conduct diagnostics Provide dentistry services Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures Manage medical care of patients Practice communication skills with medical team, support staff, and clients Eligibility Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education and in their clinical year are eligible for the externship. Students are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
