License: Active RN License required

Certifications: BLS required; ACLS, NRP, and STABLE preferred

Must-Have:
Must be able to read and interpret fetal strips.
Critical thinking skills are essential.
Experience with previous travel is preferred.
Ability to float to Med-Surg and ER as needed.

Description:
Department handles obstetric and neonatal care with a mix of diagnoses.
The unit consists of 15 beds total, including labor, delivery, and postpartum areas.
There is one operating room available for C-sections.
An average of 58 births occur monthly.
Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 for certain drips, and 1:3 for couplet care.
Common patient diagnoses include hypertension and gestational diabetes.
RNs are required to titrate drips, including pitocin and magnesium.
Charge Nurses are present each shift and take patient assignments.
Support staff, including CNAs, assist with vital signs and patient transfers.
OB and Neonatology specialists are not present in-house 24/7.
Registered nurses are responsible for reading their own fetal strips.
Tele monitoring is done using Philips equipment.
The EMR system utilized is Meditech.
Floating to other departments is required based on staffing needs.
Scrubs are provided in maroon color.
The attributes that contribute to success on this unit include adaptability and strong communication skills.
