We’re Looking for a Leader Who Can Install

Dillard Gulf Coast is looking for an experienced Commercial Installation Foreman for our Tallahassee location.

This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for someone who can lead a commercial installation crew, take ownership of a project, and make sure the job is completed safely, correctly, efficiently, and within the hours provided.

The right person will have strong commercial overhead door experience and know how to lead from the front. You should be comfortable reading plans and shop drawings, laying out a job, directing installers, coordinating with contractors and superintendents, and working closely with the DGC Project Management and Operations teams from job start through completion.

Communication is a major part of this position. We expect our Foreman to identify problems early, communicate what is needed, and work with the PM and Operations teams to keep projects moving.

What You'll Do

• Lead and work alongside a commercial installation crew
• Install sectional overhead doors, rolling steel doors, fire doors, counter doors, commercial operators, and related equipment
• Review work orders, plans, shop drawings, specifications, and job scope before beginning work
• Lay out installations and verify proper measurements, clearances, mounting, alignment, and jobsite conditions
• Assign daily work and keep crew members productive throughout the day
• Work closely with the DGC Project Manager and Operations team to coordinate manpower, scheduling, materials, equipment, jobsite readiness, and project progress
• Coordinate field activities with general contractors, superintendents, customers, and other trades
• Identify site conditions, scope conflicts, missing materials, electrical issues, or other problems that could affect the installation
• Communicate jobsite issues immediately to the DGC PM and Operations team so they can be addressed before they impact the project
• Monitor job hours and progress against the amount of work remaining
• Recognize potential change-order work and communicate it before performing work outside the original scope
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues involving commercial doors and operators
• Perform minor welding, fabrication, modifications, and field adjustments when necessary
• Ensure doors and operators are properly installed, adjusted, tested, and operating safely before completion
• Train and develop less-experienced installers and apprentices
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite
• Ensure company vehicles, trailers, tools, lifts, and equipment are properly maintained and cared for
• Complete accurate daily job notes, photos, hours, material usage, and progress documentation
• Clearly report what was completed, what remains, and what is needed for the next day or return trip
• Represent Dillard Gulf Coast professionally with customers, contractors, superintendents, and other trades

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with strong hands-on experience in commercial overhead door installation.

Experience should include several of the following:

• Commercial sectional overhead doors
• Rolling steel doors
• Fire-rated doors
• Counter doors
• Commercial door operators
• High-lift and vertical-lift applications
• Torsion spring systems
• Track, back hangs, structural supports, and door hardware
• Electrical and operator troubleshooting
• Welding and fabrication
• Reading blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
• Commercial construction jobsites
• Working from lifts and at elevated heights

Experience leading installers, apprentices, or commercial crews is strongly preferred.

The Right Person for DGC

A DGC Foreman is expected to be more than the most experienced person on the crew. We need someone who can install, lead, communicate, and take ownership.

• Checks materials and job conditions before work begins

• Works as a team with DGC Project Management and Operations
• Understands the difference between our contracted scope and additional work
• Takes pride in quality workmanship and doing the job right the first time
• Holds the crew accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism
• Can teach and develop less-experienced installers
• Communicates clearly with customers, GCs, superintendents, PMs, and Operations
• Understands that daily notes, photos, hours, and communication are part of completing the job

We don't expect every job to go perfectly. We do expect our Foreman to recognize problems early, communicate them, and work with the DGC PM and Operations teams to find a solution and keep the project moving.

Requirements

• Significant commercial overhead door installation experience
• Previous crew-lead, lead installer, or foreman experience preferred
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass an extensive background check
• Strong knowledge of commercial door installation practices
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and work orders
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and installation equipment
• Ability to work at heights and in active commercial construction environments
• Ability to lift and handle materials associated with commercial door installation
• Ability to work outdoors in Florida weather
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to lead a crew while still performing hands-on installation work

OSHA training, lift certifications, welding experience, electrical experience, and manufacturer training are a plus.
