The APRN-Psych reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor and Program Director. A collaborative relationship with a physician/psychiatrist is maintained.

Job Summary:  Practices within the scope of practice and licensure as delineated by education, training and the AR State Board of Nursing. Nurse practitioner is responsible and accountable for patient care. Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Effectively interact with patients, families, & visitors while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. Provides physical and psychological support to patients and families. Outpatient services may be delivered face-to-face or via telemedicine in the behavioral health clinic, primary care offices, or any other location allowable. Provides psychiatric consultation and oversight services to all outpatient programs. Service delivery location and method will be discussed and decided upon as best suits patient needs by Program Director and Clinic Supervisor with input from APRN. Outpatient APRNs will also provide support to inpatient services as needed, including patient rounding, weekend rotations, and taking call. This will not be a primary duty but some coverage will be required based on staffing needs on a rotating basis.

Job Duties: 

1. Provide direct patient care through face-to-face or telemedicine services on-site or off-site from the Midway - Cherokee Village location.

2. Completes evaluations with variety of diagnostic tools, following best practices.

3. Provides acute and chronic care according to behavioral health principles and practices. 

4. Conforms to prescriptive privileges as defined in policy and by license/scope of practice.

5. Communicate with collaborative physician on a routine basis.

6. Monitors effective therapy.

7. Knowledge of the development and maintenance of information/referral systems.

8. Knowledge of diagnostic process and coding appropriately for services provided.

9. Demonstrate a sensitivity and responsiveness to a variety of cultural values and beliefs and social determinants of health. 

10. Conduct basic screenings of patients, including review of barriers to health self-management; depression; stress; and substance use. 

11. Provide basic crisis intervention services to patients in need. 

12. Communicates effectively with colleagues, patients, physicians and administration.

13. Demonstrates positive and effective verbal and writtent communication skills with patients, families and co-workers, and in patient documentation.

14. Educates patients and families.

15. Provides staff with education formally and informally through peer review processes.

16. Demonstrates efficient management of time and resources.

17. Utilizes and conducts research/inquiry appropriate to clinical setting.

18. Maintains a current level of clinical practice by selecting appropriate avenues for professional growth and routinely seeks continuing education according to best practice. Evaluates goal attainment and revises goals on an on-going basis.

19. Adheres to and enforces WRH policies and procedures.

20. Maintains productivity equivalent at or above 75% of paid worked hours (i.e., 6 hours of billable time on an 8 hour paid worked day).

21. Completes documentation on date of service or within 24 hours of delivery.

22. Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications  

1. Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Arkansas APRN license approved to work in the State of Arkansas by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. Current Psychiatric Services Certificate is required. 

2. Training and Experience: Must be CPI Certified. 

3. Job Knowledge: Maintains annual department specific competencies and education fair. Adheres to White River Health System’s Standard of Behaviors. Some travel and call required. Must have a working knowledge of and adhere to all WRHS policy and procedure. Must have a working knowledge of and adhere to all unit/department policy and procedure including medical record documentation and utilization of up-to-date forms. Must demonstrate working understanding of HIPAA, Patient Rights, and appropriate conduct. Must demonstrate the continued ability to create and maintain a positive culture that is respectful of patient and employee rights, consistent with WRHS Standards of Behavior.

Essentials:

1. Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol. 

2. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals. 

Physical Demands : Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time. Fine motor skills. Visual acuity. Depth perception. Manual dexterity (hand/eye coordination).
