LandscaperPerforms semi-skilled labor duties that involve maintaining the grounds at various campuses, such as operating tractors, movers, trimming of trees/shrubs and other grounds maintenance as needed.Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalentValid Texas Driver's licenseMinimum of one (1) year of lawn care and landscape maintenance, and installation experienceAbility to safely operate motorized grounds keeping equipmentAbility to lift 50 pounds without assistanceAbility to follow instructions/directionsAbility to work in various types of weatherAbility to pick up trash and debris (paper, rocks, wood, etc.)Ability to drive truck with gooseneck trailers/large trailers safelyAbility to communicate effectively, both oral and written formsAbility to use basic hand tools, power tools, and landscaping tools.Ability to climb ladders & work at heightsAbility to operate gas powered landscaping equipment such as zero turn mowers, string trimmers, chain saws, and blowersMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Mow and detail all district groundsInstall landscape materials and suppliesFollow scheduled maintenance plan to care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weedsCollect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilitiesOperate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.Safe operation and care of assigned service vehicle, tools and equipmentHelp keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in safe operating conditionCorrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisorRead and understand procedure manuals, operating manuals, and assembly instructionsTravel to school district facilities and professional meetings as requiredFollow the directions of the Department Head and the Landscaping Leadman.Follow all the Board Policies and Facilities Policies of NISD.Perform all duties as assignedEquipment Used:Personal computer, garden tools, small hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment including backhoe, tractor, grader, power mower, edger, hedge trimmer, blower, light truck, or van.Working Conditions:Work with frequent interruptionsMaintain emotional control under stressPosition requires repetitive hand motions and occasional prolonged and irregular hoursPosition requires frequent and prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, and sittingPosition requires the ability to lift 50 pounds without assistanceExposure to extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, and windExposure to dust, noise and vibrationExposure to slippery and uneven surfacesWorking on ladders and at heights.This document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned, alternative methods of performing your duties, or skills that may be required.
