Traveling Scheduling Manager - MSG - Biotech/Pharma

Division: Pharmaceutical Project Location(s): Raleigh, NC 27601 USA Compensation: Salaried Exempt Job Family: Construction Position Description This position is for a full time traveling assignment supporting our Advanced Technology Group on a Biotech or Pharmaceutical project. The incumbent can be based anywhere in the United States and must have prior Biotech/Pharma experience. Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities Perform Planning & Scheduling activities including monitoring, tracking progress, and preparing summary and detail level schedules. Communicate project execution plan, monitor performance against original baseline schedule and previous month’s forecasts, and promote early identification and mitigation of risks. Perform monthly progress updates and create target comparison and periodic look‑ahead schedules. Develop and periodically update cost and/or resource loaded schedules. Participate in project schedule reviews at Operations Review Meetings (ORMs) or other sessions. Participate in Business Development (BD) and business unit marketing activities for proposal presentations and develop pursuit schedules. Provide support and training of scheduling software and planning and scheduling techniques to office and jobsite staff. Develop full Critical Path Method (CPM) logic‑generated baseline schedules for projects. Manage budget and costs for time, resources, and material allocation to support projects and BD needs. Implement and manage ‘Scheduling Playbook’ standard operating procedures and processes and communicate updates, best practices, and lessons learned with the Scheduling group within the region. Promote Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling for managing projects, communicating the project’s execution plan, monitoring performance against the Original Baseline and previous month’s forecasts, and early identification and mitigation of risks. Train the Planning & Scheduling group to properly manage Critical Path and near‑critical paths throughout projects. Perform audits of schedules to assess the health and maturity of the Planning & Scheduling function across projects within the region; provide feedback to schedulers and project stakeholders. Work in collaboration with the project team to review schedules to ensure horizontal and vertical integration. Partner with the Regional Lean Manager to fully incorporate lean construction methods into the schedule. Monitor and assign rights of scheduling software licensing and remain compliant with scheduling software contract terms, collaborating with Information Services (IS) as needed. Serve as regional point of contact for scheduling software, communicate issues, resolutions, and best practices, and assist project teams in adopting and using the software while providing training. Assist with determining needs, securing, and overseeing third‑party consultants across the region, as needed, to ensure compliance with contract terms and Planning & Scheduling policies. Regularly contribute to Regional Scheduling Manager (RSM) team meetings to stay current on matters affecting the company’s scheduling operations and share relevant information with the regional Scheduling group and project stakeholders. Engage with clients as a Planning & Scheduling subject‑matter expert to educate and influence expectations for standards and best practices, satisfying owner standards and other requirements. Conduct project schedule reviews with project leadership and provide scheduling status at Operations Review Meetings (ORMs). Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field and a minimum of 12 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Scheduling Certification desired (e.g., Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), Project Management Institute Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)). Broad scope and various complexity of construction projects (>$500m). Experience in construction project engineering and supervision positions. Complex commissioning experience, desired. Extensive knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices. Advanced experience developing metrics, tracking results, conducting gap analysis, and managing scheduling risks. Advanced knowledge of estimates for project schedule development. Demonstrate elements of emotional intelligence including self‑awareness, social awareness, self‑management, and relationship management. Knowledge of earned value concepts and using construction resources to validate productivity and durations. Exceptional ability to lead and support change, delays, and claims. Strong analysis, critical thinking, good judgment, and problem‑solving skills. Adept to manage through ambiguity and changing environments and demands. Leadership skills and management experience, able to engage others that are not direct reports. The salary range for this position is estimated to be $175,000.00 to $260,000.00 annualized, which represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
