Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required


Must-Have:
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience.
Travel experience is preferred.
Candidates must have experience with chest tubes, arterial lines, and Swan-Ganz catheters.


Description:
The unit consists of private rooms with a total of 11 beds.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1 to 1-2.
The electronic medical record system in use is Cerner.
Charge nurses will handle a small patient load.
There are no nurse aides available in the unit.
Weekend requirements include working every other weekend.
Holidays will be scheduled according to permanent staff rotation.
Scrubs must be navy in color.
Telemonitor technicians operate on day shifts.
Nursing staff are responsible for reading telemetry strips.
The unit administers various drips, including dopamine, levophed, epinephrine, and nitroglycerin.
Ventilation support is available.
An intensivist is on call during the night.
A PICC line team is available if needed, but there is no IV team on-site.
Respiratory therapy services are available 24/7.
Pharmacy services are available 24/7 for regular hours.
Nurses may need to mix medications after hours.
Shifts are strictly 12 hours long.
Floating may occur to the telemetry unit or medical-surgical unit.
The orientation period includes two shifts specific to the floor.
Common diagnoses and types of patients treated include open-heart surgery, general surgery, STEMI, strokes, and balloon pumps.
Travelers will not manage patients with neurological conditions.
The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts within the assignment duration.
