Waste Management Specialist

Rad Pros' Waste Management Specialist samples, profiles, oversees, documents, manifests, and handles the
logistics for the disposal of unique waste streams from our customers. This work is completed with
information gained through site assessments, field sampling, surveys, and laboratory data. This position
requires an exceptional eye for detail, general knowledge of hazardous and radioactive materials, and an
understanding of each State's regulations related to hazardous waste and NORM/TENORM.

This is a full-time position that reports to the Vice President of Waste and Logistics and maintains their work
schedule from the Rad Pros office near Watkins, Colorado.

Core Duties / Responsibilities:
• Coordinates with the Director of Operations to assign and/or complete sampling work on all
projects.
• Schedule and ensure execution on assigned projects, communicating carefully with
clients, team members, and any subcontractors to perform all aspects of the project.
• Update project calendar and personal Rad Pros calendar to schedule projects and meetings.
• Manage inventory and order sampling supplies, including but not limited to bottle kits,
coolers, bailers, coliwasa tubes, PPE, etc.
• Use ClickUp and internally developed software to project manage and maintain waste boards
as activities or status changes occur.
• Use disposal vendor systems and external paperwork processes to submit and manage waste
profiles at selected facilities.
• Update clients on a timely basis on changes in the status of lab analysis, profiling, waste
acceptance, import/export permits, and final transport and disposal.
• Assist with profiling waste into proper facilities at the direction of the VP Waste & Logistics
and the Environmental Scientist II.
• Obtain waste pricing from disposal facilities on a timely basis and support the business
development team with project estimates.
• Prepare hazardous and radioactive waste manifests, submit to disposal facility for
approval, review, and advise field team on appropriate marking, labeling, and placarding
as required
• Obtain export/import permits for waste disposal. Ensure notifications to the RMLLWB
are completed on time after transport and disposal.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled field projects as part of the crew or alone as
requested and as qualified. Local, regional, and national travel may be required from time
to time.
• Complete all assigned training as directed. Pursue/obtain additional training as new types of
waste streams are identified or introduced.
• Participate in all required company meetings, updating the team on assigned projects,
profile waste status.
• Adhere to all Rad Pros company policies and SOPs, and perform all tasks and functions as assigned.
• Ensure follow-through for the execution of deliverables, including performing field work, sampling,
surveying, report writing, data analysis, and / or modeling.
• Support field projects as necessary, which may include shipping activities, radiation surveys, sampling
events, and compliance paperwork.
• Grow in your knowledge and understanding of radiation and health physics through formal and
informal education and by teaching others.
• Manage multiple priorities to ensure Rad Pros' objectives are met and to ensure accountability,
timeliness, and excellence in meeting client and regulatory expectations.
• Use workflow software, email, and verbal communication to effectively communicate upcoming
deadlines and deliverables.

Requirements / Certifications:
• In-office position, with roughly 30% travel, that may increase during specific projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Health Physics, Environmental Sciences, or a related field preferred but
can be substituted for industry knowledge and training.
• RCRA, USDOT, and radioactive materials training and credentials highly preferred.
• Exceptional verbal and written skills for effective communication with clients and team members.
Able to create reports, daily logs, SOPs, and other documentation as needed.
• A passion for customer service and satisfaction.
• Physically able to climb ladders, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform basic field work for the collection of
samples and shipping totes / drums of waste.
• Excellent typing and data management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, Google Tools, and common computer applications.
• 2 years' experience in hazardous waste, lab analysis review, and profiling and manifesting
waste.
• Obtain and maintain RCRA and DOT Hazmat Shipper and Class 7 certifications
• 1+ year(s) of experience in NORM / TENORM management and regulations preferred.
• Class A CDL w/ HAZMAT and Tanker endorsement beneficial, but not required.
• Equipment Operation (telehandler, forklift, and/or skidsteer) beneficial, but not required.
• Able to review large quantities of data while also focusing and balancing the critical details.

The Waste Management Specialist is granted a certain degree of flexibility in their schedule due to frequent travel and site visits. If not in the field, regular office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm with an unpaid 1/2hr lunch break.
