Finish Room Sprayer/Catcher - 1st Shift

Summary The Sprayer applies finish to products. Individual recognizes any blemishes in the finish when completed. The position may also sand parts as necessary. Essential Functions Operates air hand sprayers to finish spray on edges and parts according to QA standards and produces an even topcoat on a variety of products. Adheres to all OSHA standards when operating the equipment. Cleans all spray guns and tips as required. Notifies maintenance or puts in a maintenance request when ventilation system or spray tools issues arise. Develops or revises standard working practices with lead and/or supervisor. Maintains safety and housekeeping standards in the area while meeting quality and quantity standards. Identifies any blemishes or imperfections in parts and coordinates with Supervisor/ QA regarding resolution. Cleans the area and machine upon completion of shift or periodically if necessary. Notifies maintenance or puts in a maintenance request when needed. Presence in the workplace is an essential function of this job. Additional Functions Conducts maintenance and preventative maintenance on spray equipment. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic spray-painting knowledge a plus. Basic mechanical aptitude a plus. Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner. May be required to work with or train new employees. Manufacturing experience preferred. Ability to learn fourth Shift basics. Working conditions Our production environment is typical for wood manufacturing and includes a variety of environmental elements including loud noise, dust, and aromas. While this is an indoor operation, temperatures will vary with the outdoor temperature and some areas of the shop may be hot or cold. Strong odors from finishing chemicals are present. This position requires the ability to wear a respirator. Individual may be subject to vibration. Individual is subject to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles and/or heat. Physical requirements Production positions are physically demanding and may be strenuous. They are standing positions and include frequent walking, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs. There are a lot of body movements, including extending arms, grasping with hands, and flexing of wrists. There may be a lot of bending and twisting. Each position requires ongoing rotations of movements and workers must have the physicality to perform the essential functions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 150 lbs.
