Job Summary:
The Ambulatory Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care in an outpatient clinic setting, supporting individuals and families across the continuum of care. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care; administering medications and treatments; performing clinical procedures; and providing patient education and care coordination. The RN collaborates with providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomes, patient safety, and culturally responsive care in a fast-paced ambulatory environment. Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and patient responses.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
- Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs.
- Deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care.
- Exercise independent nursing judgment to determine appropriate nursing actions and priorities.
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, referrals, and follow-up services.
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
- Adhere to regulatory, safety, and infection prevention requirements.
- Participate in quality and performance improvement activities.
- Provide guidance and delegation to ancillary staff and support orientation and mentoring of staff and students.
- Float to other departments or assignments as needed.
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state; agency staff must have an active Alaska license.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong nursing judgment and clinical decision-making skills consistent with Alaska Board of Nursing scope of practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- Case Management certification preferred.
- MUST HAVE ACTIVE ALASKA LICENSE AT TIME OF SUBMITTAL.
- MUST HAVE FLU VACCINATION.
- Traveler will start not less than 6 weeks after fingerprint cards are received.
- Practice within nursing scope of practice and adhere to Alaska statutes, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Work in a fast-paced ambulatory outpatient clinic environment.
- Work schedule and shifts are assigned according to clinic needs; flexibility may be required to float to other departments or assignments as needed.
