Custodian

Overview Job Description: The Huntington is a collections-based research and educational institution open to the public, servicing arts, humanities, and botanical science. This is a full-time custodial and facilities support role scheduled for 40 hours per week. Responsibilities Perform routine and special cleaning in all areas of The Huntington (restrooms, carpets, floors, dusting, windows, kitchens, exterior areas, and other areas as directed). Assist with special event setups indoors and outdoors (tables, chairs, extension cords, and equipment). Assist in moving boxes, furniture, or other items as needed. May drive a golf cart between assigned areas. Perform light maintenance duties (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains) as required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge, skills, and abilities: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Preferred: 1-3 years experience in custodial duties. Working Conditions Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, push/pull/carry heavy objects; stand and walk for long periods; climb ladders and stairs; bend and reach. Visual acuity for close detail work and careful handling of valuable collection items. Ability to work cooperatively with others and as part of the custodial team; flexible with assignments. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings; polite and diplomatic with staff and the public. Works in all physical plants, galleries, and office areas; uses tools and electrical/mechanical equipment with care. Compensation & Benefits Pay Rate: $18.50/hr.
