Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Outpatient Infusion position requiring Chemo certification and prior oncology infusion experience.

Details

• Work in an outpatient oncology infusion center setting
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7
• Day shift schedule (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• Weekend requirement of 1 Saturday per month, no Sundays
• Floating required between the cancer center and main campus for appropriate assignments
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Any scrub color permitted

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in outpatient infusion or oncology (chemo certified) required
• Skilled in administration of chemotherapy including continuous infusion, IV push, and oral administration
• Experience with biotherapy and immunotherapy
• Skilled in central line and implanted line care, including blood draws
• Proficient in starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience managing chemotherapy-related symptoms (nausea, neuropathy, mucositis, altered mental status, etc.)
• Phlebotomy skills preferred
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays

Additional Information

• Administer chemotherapy and monitor patients throughout treatment
• Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support
• Support symptom management and address treatment-related side effects
• Assist with palliative and end-of-life care discussions, including withholding or withdrawing treatment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Previous RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before being eligible for this travel assignment
