Details Special Care Nursery/Level II unit within a hospital setting 36 hours per week, night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:50-7:20) Will float to postpartum for baby care assignments Required to work every other weekend Requirements Active RN license: MD license or compact license required Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and STABLE Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment Delivery room experience required Preceptor experience highly preferred Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years Additional Information Provide comprehensive newborn care including newborn assessment, cord care, thermoregulation, and discharge teaching to parents Assist with circumcision procedures and provide related post-op site assessment and parent education Perform car seat education and infant identification duties Administer IV antibiotics and start/maintain IVs Conduct metabolic screening and manage neonatal abstinence syndrome cases Provide phototherapy and care for large for gestational age, low birth weight, and hypoglycemic newborns Follow isolation precautions/PPE protocols and administer vaccines Scrubs are provided Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower rate No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
