Job Summary And Qualifications Speech Therapist (SLP) evaluates and treats patients to improve communication, cognition, and swallowing functions Key Responsibilities Evaluating Patients: Use standardized tools, structured tests, and clinical observations to assess communication, memory, thinking, and swallowing skills Treatment Planning: Create and update custom care plans that help patients swallow safely and communicate clearly Patient Education: Teach patients and family members home strategies, safety rules, and therapy goals Team Collaboration: Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other therapists to ensure smooth patient care and recovery Documentation: Record daily notes, evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries accurately and on time Standard Qualifications Education: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. Licensure: State professional license to practice speech-language pathology. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is frequently required or preferred.
