Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Night Rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years with oncology experience License: BCLS Certifications: BLS, Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC) Must-Have: Accessing and managing ports Acute tumor lysis syndrome management Administration of blood and blood products Administration of chemotherapy Care and management of ports Central line care and management Inpatient oncology background Patient ratio experience of 1:3 to 1:5 Description: This position is in a 30-bed unit specializing in the care of patients undergoing blood and marrow transplantation. It involves providing adult inpatient care for complex patient populations. Registered Nurses will participate in meeting the intricate care requirements of this population. Candidates should be able to manage patient ratios effectively, preferably 1:3 to 1:4, but experience up to 1:5 may also be considered. Individuals selected for this role may be assigned to different units depending on the manager's assessment of fit. The unit cares for patients receiving immunotherapy and other hematology/oncology treatments. Staff will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services. Travelers with previous inpatient oncology experience are preferred, along with knowledge of managing common side effects and treatments related to blood disorders.
