About the Position *This is an X16 position.* The responsibilities currently assigned to the Superintendent of Education are executive in nature and encompass the leadership and administration of an entire public school district, to include serving as chief executive educational officer of the RISE Academy, providing leadership for district wide strategic planning and implementation, advising and supporting the local Board of Education, developing district policies, administrative procedures, as well as operation of systems and directing accreditation, accountability, and continuous improvement efforts. The candidate will also ensure compliance with the MS Department of Education (MDE) requirements, as well as applicable state and federal laws. Other job responsibilities include overseeing curriculum, instruction, assessment, student services and district operations, supervising district leadership personnel, administering federal education programs, as well as grant compliance and developing and overseeing district budgets and fiscal accountability. The Education Program Administrator will represent MDOC and RISE academy before state agencies, educational partners, and external stakeholders. What you'll need to be Successful To be successful in this position, applicant should have experience overseeing a Local Education Agency (LEA), establishing educational systems, developing necessary plans, having oversight of an accredited educational program, instructional leadership, budget, and policy development.
