Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse

Join our Level 3b Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) that provides comprehensive care for our youngest patients. With 16 beds, we will expand to 20 beds within a year. The unit is equipped with advanced monitoring and ventilatory support systems and is staffed with experienced neonatologists and respiratory therapists available 24/7.

Job Responsibilities

• Caring for neonates of all gestational ages and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
• Providing comprehensive nursing care for premature infants, those dealing with sepsis, and infants undergoing cooling therapy.
• Participating in deliveries and providing immediate care to newborns as needed.
• Administering medications and managing drips, including various types of ventilatory support.
• Coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team and educating families about their infants' conditions.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of recent NICU experience.
• Candidates should have experience with ventilators such as Aveya, bubble CPAP, and vapotherm.
• Attendance at deliveries is preferred.
• Experience with cooling therapy and managing substance withdrawal is an advantage.
• Spanish-speaking candidates are preferred.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Work Schedule

This position requires 12-hour shifts, either from 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM. Staff will be expected to work every other weekend and on holidays as needed to support permanent staff.

Additional Information

Orientation to the unit will be conducted over 2-3 shifts to ensure familiarity with the environment and protocols. Nurses may be required to float to Labor and Delivery or Postpartum units as needed.
