Job Title: Welder Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to apply your welding and metal fabrication experience in a dynamic production environment that supports a wide range of custom metal products. You will work on agricultural tillage equipment, storage tanks, fertilizer spreaders, HVAC equipment for ethanol plants, and other custom metal projects, ensuring high-quality welds and precise fabrication. The position provides consistent, varied work from week to week and the chance to collaborate closely with other skilled welders in a supportive shop setting.

• Perform MIG welding on agricultural equipment and a variety of custom metal products using wirefeed processes.
• Set up, operate, and adjust welding machines to meet job specifications and ensure proper weld quality.
• Read and interpret blueprints and layouts, or train on blueprint reading, to accurately lay out products prior to welding.
• Fabricate components by cutting, fitting, and assembling metal parts according to project requirements.
• Clean up welds using grinders and other fabrication tools to achieve smooth, finished surfaces.
• Operate overhead cranes as needed to safely move products and materials throughout the shop.
• Use tape measures and other hand tools to verify dimensions and maintain structural accuracy.
• Work closely with other welders and leads to complete projects efficiently and meet production timelines.
• Communicate with other departments to maintain smooth and efficient product flow through the facility.
• Assist with training new hires once you are comfortable with processes and standards.
• Follow shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Adapt to changing project types and priorities, contributing to a variety of large and small-scale builds.

• Prior welding experience or welding-related education in a production or similar environment.
• Proficiency with MIG welding and wirefeed welding processes.
• Ability to set up and adjust welding machines to achieve proper weld parameters.
• Experience in metal fabrication, including fitting, assembling, and finishing metal components.
• Skill in cleaning and finishing welds using grinders and related fabrication tools.
• Ability to use tape measures and basic hand tools accurately to verify dimensions.
• Comfort working with agricultural and structural metal products.
• Capability to operate or learn to operate overhead cranes safely.
• Willingness to learn and apply blueprint reading and layout techniques.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others in a production shop environment.
• Reliability to work scheduled hours and support consistent weekly workloads.

• Blueprint reading and layout experience, strongly preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with press brake operations and sheet metal work.
• Background in farming, agricultural equipment, shop class, or metal fabrication is beneficial.
• Familiarity with flux core welding processes.
• Experience using grinders, hand tools, and other metalworking equipment.
• Exposure to working with structural steel and metal structures.
• Experience using Miller Electric, Lincoln Electric, ESAB, or Fronius welding equipment.
• Comfort working with HVAC-related metal components and custom metal products.

This is a full-time role in a production shop environment, operating Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional half-day Fridays and a typical workload of around 50 hours per week during busy periods. The shop maintains a comfortable temperature, even during hotter weeks, and offers a laid-back atmosphere with a small-shop feel despite handling large-scale projects. Employees work closely together and support one another, fostering a collaborative and helpful culture. The facility uses MIG and wirefeed welding equipment, including brands such as Miller Electric, Lincoln Electric, ESAB, and Fronius, along with overhead cranes, grinders, press brakes, and other metal fabrication tools. Standard shop attire suitable for welding and fabrication work is expected, with appropriate safety gear and adherence to safety procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
