Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Description The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a full‑time rotating 2:30 – 11:00 p.m. shift, with a $0.90 per hour shift differential for second shift. Responsibilities Assist in the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Provide direct nursing care as specified in individualized treatment plans. Carry out physician orders, medication management, and documentation. Support behavioral management, patient education, and therapeutic activities. Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, meals, etc.). Communicate observations, hand‑off information, and report concerns to RN staff. Provide leadership for non‑licensed staff, facilitate collaborative work habits, and promote team building. Qualifications Licensed Practical Nurse licensure by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure under the Nurse Licensure Compact. Successful completion of a background check.
