Job Description
The Safety and Quality Coordinator supports Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs and Quality Management Systems (QMS) within a busy manufacturing environment. This first-shift role, starting at 7:00 a.m. in Canton, OH, focuses primarily on safety (approximately 75%) while also leading key quality initiatives (approximately 25%). The position plays a central role in maintaining compliance, driving continuous improvement, and promoting a strong safety culture across the facility.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs within a manufacturing facility, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Conduct regular facility safety inspections, including audits of personal protective equipment (PPE), fire extinguisher checks, evacuation drills, and other safety compliance activities.
- Lead and participate in employee safety training sessions, reinforcing workplace safety programs and best practices.
- Track and maintain safety-related inventories, EH&S reports, training schedules, and compliance records to ensure accurate documentation and timely follow-up.
- Support and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS), including alignment with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
- Lead internal quality audits, including planning, execution, documentation, and follow-up on findings.
- Drive corrective actions and root cause investigations in response to quality issues, customer complaints, and nonconformances.
- Coordinate and document continuous improvement initiatives focused on both safety and quality performance.
- Maintain comprehensive quality documentation, including calibration records, customer complaints, return material authorizations (RMAs), corrective actions, safety data sheet (SDS) records, and audit documentation.
- Review and submit customer reports, testing documentation, and regulatory compliance paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, track metrics, maintain documentation, and communicate with stakeholders across the organization.
- Support process improvement efforts throughout the facility to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in daily production and safety meetings, providing updates on EH&S and quality activities and raising concerns or opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate closely with plant leadership and production teams to promote and sustain a strong safety culture and consistent quality standards.
- Ensure that all safety and quality activities are integrated into day-to-day manufacturing operations and support long-term organizational goals.
Essential Skills
- 35 years of Quality and/or Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Safety, Quality Assurance, EH&S, or a related manufacturing discipline.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production processes and shop-floor activities.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs, with the ability to apply these requirements in a practical manufacturing setting.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, including understanding of quality standards and audit processes, preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple safety and quality initiatives, documentation, and schedules simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with employees at all levels and to deliver training and reports.
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, for reporting, documentation, and communication.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and build strong working relationships across manufacturing and office staff.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, or equivalent specialized experience preferred.
- Experience supporting or auditing ISO 9001 quality standards and related quality management systems.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience is a plus, particularly in driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience conducting safety inspections, PPE audits, and evacuation drills in an industrial setting.
- Background in quality control, quality standards, and audit processes within manufacturing.
- Familiarity with safety management practices and manufacturing safety compliance requirements.
- Exposure to ISO standards and their application in a production environment.
- OSHA 30 or similar OSHA-focused training and certifications are beneficial.
- Ability to handle and organize multiple types of documentation, including calibration records, SDS files, and audit reports.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with evolving priorities and high activity levels.

Work Environment
This role operates in a manufacturing facility that is generally clean and well-maintained, while also reflecting the pace and complexity of a very busy operation. The workspace can appear somewhat unorganized at times due to active projects and units spread out across the production floor, which provides exposure to a wide variety of equipment and processes. The environment is highly team-oriented, with daily collaboration among production and office staff and a strong emphasis on working together to meet safety, quality, and production goals. The organization includes approximately 180 people across manufacturing and office functions, offering a community feel while still providing access to diverse skills and perspectives. Work is performed on first shift with a 7:00 a.m. start time, and attire aligns with standard manufacturing and safety expectations, including appropriate personal protective equipment as require
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of North Canton, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
