Construction Inspector I or II - North Tarrant Area Office (2601440) TxDOT Fort Worth District is looking for a Construction Inspector I or II for the North Tarrant County Area Office located in Euless, TX. As a Construction Inspector, you will deal with a wide variety of construction and maintenance projects related to roadways and bridges. This position requires teamwork, willingness to learn, and will be trained in all aspects of the job. Acts as consultant regarding work progress and problem resolution. May serve as the only inspector on a construction project or assist in overseeing construction inspection activities for very large and complex projects within a district. Responsible to a licensed professional engineer who has full authority for approval of all work. May perform materials tests and manufacturing process inspections at fabrication sites. Calculates payments due contractors for work completed. Consults with Project Engineers, resident project representatives, and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems. Reviews equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates. Ensures contractors build roadways, bridges and related highway structures and/or airport improvements in accordance with plans and specifications. Observes and inspects ongoing construction work. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Additional Responsibilities for Construction Inspector II Handles problem calls from producers, suppliers, inspectors and construction project field personnel. Prepares and reviews correspondence. Conducts project reviews and coordinates inspections with various inspectors and other district/division project managers. Prepares monthly and final estimates. Serves as a lead worker or project leader. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent in general high school studies. Experience: Construction Inspector I: No experience required (experience can be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year‑per‑year basis. Construction Inspector II: 1 YEAR of construction, construction inspection, engineering support, maintenance and repairs, materials or process inspection; or transportation engineering support related experience. Licenses and Certifications: Safety Impact Certificate, Valid driver’s license (position requires driving a state vehicle). Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Standing for prolonged periods of time. Balancing/walking, standing, crouching on various surfaces without falling. Walking/moving on foot to accomplish tasks: long distance from one work site to another. Must pass a drug test prior to employment for safety impact positions (subject to random drug testing). Required to work weekends and holidays. Required to work hours other than 8 to 5. Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements.
