Assistant Store Manager – Band & Orchestra Sales Focus Location: Strait Music – South Store (3201 Bee Cave Rd, Austin, TX 78746) Job Type: Full-Time Join Our Team as Assistant Store Manager – South Store Are you passionate about music, energized by leading people, and excited to help grow one of Texas’ most respected music retailers? Strait Music is seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager with a focus on Band & Orchestra sales to help lead our South Austin team. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong retail leadership skills with a deep understanding of Band & Orchestra instruments, customer relationships, and a commitment to creating an exceptional in-store experience. You’ll play a key role in supporting store operations, developing team members, driving sales performance, and helping musicians of all levels find the instruments and services that support their musical journey. Position Responsibilities Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure every customer has a positive experience. Lead, coach, and motivate sales associates to achieve individual and team goals. Serve as a knowledgeable resource for Band & Orchestra instruments, accessories, rentals, and related services. Support day-to-day store operations including staffing, merchandising, inventory management, and store presentation. Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance development of team members. Step into leadership responsibilities in the Store Manager’s absence. Monitor sales performance and contribute to achieving store goals. Collaborate with leadership on promotions, events, and community engagement initiatives. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming sales environment. Qualifications Minimum 1.5 year of retail management or leadership experience Minimum 3 years of music retail experience Strong knowledge of Band & Orchestra instruments and sales Excellent communication and team leadership skills Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment Passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences Preferred Bachelor’s degree Experience working with school music programs or educational music sales Experience with music rentals and/or repair operations Proven success meeting or exceeding sales goals Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively Benefits Health, dental, and vision benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) Company Contributing 401(k) 401(k) matching Employee discounts Professional development opportunities Ready to help lead one of Austin’s most respected music retailers?
