Harris Hands Community Services, Inc. seeks a Direct Support Professionals (Drivers and NonDrivers) for our Without Walls Day Habilitation Program. The ideal candidate must be reliable and maintain a positive and professional attitude while fostering a supportive environment, and enjoy supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in a community-based setting. They must document provided services accurately and efficiently, and utilize computer skills to enter data into the online database system (Therap).

Qualifications for this position must include:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D
• Must pass all OPWDD background tests
• Drivers Must have clean and valid NYS Driver's License
• Must be able to drive a 15-passenger van, with three years experience driving a van
• Must be compassionate and excited about working with the ID/DD population
• Must be creative, a team player, flexible, have conflict resolution skills, and be able to complete paperwork on time
• Must be willing and able to work overtime if and when necessary

Additional Qualifications include:

• Strong reliability and compassionate approach to care
• Making sure all individuals are engaging in daily activities
• Effective reading and writing skills for documentation
• Proficiency in computer usage to manage program records
• Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
• May have to lift more than 15lbs and may have to provide post toileting assistance to adults when necessary.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Mandatory overtime for supplemental day habilitation when/if necessary
• 1 Saturday a month for meetings/trainings

There is no overnight shift available. Employees may be asked to work mandatory overtime. Serious inquiries only.
