The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Legal Cashier to join a busy and well-established Cashroom team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced cashier to contribute to the smooth financial operation of a leading legal practice while working within a collaborative and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate financial records, and delivering an efficient service to clients, partners and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Record day-to-day financial transactions for both client and office accounts.
• Identify and allocate incoming client receipts accurately.
• Process office and client payments in accordance with firm procedures.
• Raise, process and bank cheques.
• Manage deposit account transactions, including openings, closures, lodgements and withdrawals.
• Allocate payments against fees and client matters.
• Prepare and process balance reports.
• Reconcile client balances and deposit accounts.
• Investigate and resolve residual balances.
• Provide support across other Cashroom functions as required.
• Utilise online banking platforms and financial systems effectively.
• Ensure compliance with information security policies and maintain the confidentiality and integrity of financial data.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience working within a busy cashiering or finance environment.
• Experience within a legal cashroom or law firm environment would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules, Anti-Money Laundering requirements and VAT regulations.
• Strong knowledge of client and office ledger postings and supporting documentation requirements.
• Professional and service-focused approach when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
• Flexible, proactive and capable of working on own initiative.
• Strong team player with a collaborative approach.
• Positive, professional attitude with excellent organisational skills.

Skills & Experience

• Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to prioritise workload effectively and meet deadlines.
• Comfortable working under pressure within a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong understanding of financial controls and compliance requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build positive working relationships across the business.
