We are proud to have become a shining example of what's possible when the brightest professionals dedicate themselves to making a difference in the healthcare industry, and in people's lives. \n \n \n \n \n \n Pay \n \n \n \n \n We offer competitive hourly pay with shift differential incentives. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Schedule & Incentives \n \n \n \n \n This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus \n \n \n \n \n \n This role can offer a competitive relocation assistance package for eligible candidates \n \n \n \n \n \n A PRN position with Monday through Friday Day Shift Availability: 8:00am – 4:30pm (Mon - Thur) and Friday 8:00am – 3:00pm, with an anticipated need of 25-30 hours weekly\n \n \n \n \n \n Benefits program that includes PTO, mental health support, wellness rooms, concierge services and more \n \n \n \n \n \n Access to Wellstar’s CareerCare program for fully funded education and guided career progression \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Job Summary \n \n \n \n \n The Breast Sonographer PRN applies their expertise to deliver safe, high‑quality imaging and a supportive patient experience at Wellstar Medical Group\n \n \n \n \n \n Technologists at Wellstar are respected clinical professionals and essential members of a collaborative care team. \n \n \n \n \n \n If you’re looking for a place where you’re supported and where your well‑being, career growth, and voice truly matter, you’ll find it here. \n \n \n\nCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\nPatient Care\n * Verifies proper clinician order for procedure.\n * Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data and assesses for contraindicating conditions.\n * Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast medias so that no patient condition deteriorates, and no patient suffers undue pain, due to error or poor technique.\n * Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification and right and left marker are utilized appropriately.\n * Reviews ultrasound images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.\n * Responds to emergency situations and provides for the restocking of the crash cart and maintenance of life support equipment.\n * Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed.\n * Observes patient condition and properly evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary so that no patient condition deteriorates.\n * Verifies correct identity of patient using 2 unique identifiers prior to performing a procedure per hospital policy and procedure.\n * Ensures patient's privacy and comfort is accommodated. Maintains patients dignity throughout the exam/procedure.\n * Demonstrates competence in the determination and application of appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies and techniques based on the age of patients.\n * Organizes schedule, time and priorities so that required activities are accomplished within designated time frames.\n * Follows physicians instructions when assisting with procedures and exams.\n * Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injection.\n * Uses critical thinking skills.\n * Dialogs with patient/family\n * Asks clarifying questions.\n * Seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.\n * Understands, demonstrates and documents preprocedural verification and Time Out process when appropriate.\n * Demonstrates and understands pre-and-post procedural care.\n * Preps the patient for the procedure.\n * Demonstrates and understands sterile technique\n * Ability to perform all Vascular Ultrasound exams.\n Patient Care\n 1. Patiently and clearly explains purpose and nature of exam to patient prior to starting of procedure, so as to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation using AIDET; Acknowledge, Introduce, Discuss, Explain, and Thank you of all patients and family members.\n 2. Ensures that patient's questions, concerns or contraindications are satisfactorily addressed, notifying physician when this cannot be accomplished, prior to the initiation of the procedure.\n 3. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.\n 4. Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures.\n 5. Required documentation is concise, legible and includes precise terminology.\n 6. Reads email each day scheduled to work and follows through with assignment.\n 7. Completes mandatory departmental and Hospital-wide education without prompting.\n Quality Control\n * Consistently produces acceptable images, as evidenced by radiologist feedback and quality audits, with a first time acceptance rate.\n * Ensures that equipment is fully operational prior to each use, by checking for proper calibration and operating deficiencies.\n * Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion, prints CDs as needed.\n * Studies that have been reported after hours by teleradiography are printed and scanned into PACS, if applicable.\n * Completes all studies in RIS before completing in PACS.\n * Prints completed log sheet from teleradiography and submits to Radiologist, if applicable\n * Performs and maintains quality control logs for probe disinfection and follows infection control policies\n Operations\n * Restocks linens and supplies, and maintains the department in clean and orderly condition.\n * Transports patients, positions patients, and helps them on and off procedure table.\n * Performs patient charging activities on the day the service is rendered.\n * Applies shielding, supportive and immobilization devices and equipment.\n * Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others upon request as needed and routinely as time is available, without prompting, so that all working time is used for departmental advantage.\n * Performs routine duties of clerical and support personnel in accordance with procedure when warranted to ensure continuity and quality of services.\n * Keeps supervisor informed on all responsibilities on an ongoing basis, ensuring prompt notification in the event of problems or potential problems.\n * Maintains an individual productivity rate equal to other co-workers.\n * Ability to operate all work stations associated with the US department.\n * Ability to push / retrieve images from the Ultrasound console to PACS.\n * Maintain Joint Commission standards and any other regulatory agency standards.\n * Takes call when necessary\n * Any other duties as assigned.\n Quality Control\n 1. Consistently produces acceptable images, as evidenced by provider feedback and quality audits\n 2.
