Job Description Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse Fellow to join our Medical/Surgical Unit Full Time night Shift. Sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance eligible. Follow written plans of care, standards and practice guidelines while utilizing pathways under the supervision of an experienced RN. Utilize assessment data and patient preferences to identify patient care needs. Organize, prioritize and deliver patient care to assigned patients by utilizing Inova's Nursing Professional Practice Model and Care Delivery Model (i.e. procedures, therapies, tests and patient education) to achieve desired outcomes. Monitor patients' progress toward expected outcomes and adjust plans of care accordingly. Provide compassionate and empathetic hands‑on care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality. State rationale for clinical decisions based on educational knowledge, principles and evidence‑based practices. Work efficiently within the healthcare team to achieve maximum productivity and identified outcomes. Accurately document all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and seek assistance from others to further develop documentation skills. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings as an active member of the healthcare team. Successfully integrate novice nursing abilities with new knowledge and the capacity to incorporate and transfer these skills into the delivery of safe/high‑quality patient care. Identify and seek out members of the healthcare team as a resource to increase practice/knowledge while seeking validation of clinical decisions from unit resources. Showcase openness to feedback, mentoring and suggestions from colleagues to implement change and enhance care. Attend and participate in all learning sessions assigned for successful completion of the Registered Nurse (RN) Fellowship. Complete all assignments (e.g. classroom work, computer‑based learning modules, laboratory simulations and assigned readings on time and be able to recall, comprehend and apply them in the classroom and clinical settings). Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills, verbalize reasoning and demonstrate use of equipment and supplies involved in providing safe/high‑quality and effective patient care. May serve as a preceptor following appropriate orientation and competency completion. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date. Experience: A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience. This position will consider RN's with LTC, Rehab, Home Health and Outpatient experience. Certification: BLS from American Heart Association (AHA). Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi‑state Registered Nurse license.
