Social Caseworker – Child Protection Intake Unit We are recruiting a dedicated Social Caseworker to support the Child Protection Intake Unit at the Arapahoe Department of Human Services. The position serves as the Narcotics Liaison, working closely with Aurora Police Narcotics and SWAT on cases involving children residing in homes where law enforcement conducts drug raids or search warrants. Responsibilities include: conducting investigations of alleged physical abuse and neglect; determining if a child should be placed outside the home; supervising placement and coordinating parent‑child visits; recommending return to family when appropriate; performing crisis intake and long‑term case planning; monitoring client progress and adjusting case plans; providing individual or family counseling; making collateral contacts with community resources such as law enforcement, medical personnel, and other service providers; gathering and consolidating background information for court hearings, progress reports, and placement decisions; participating in staff meetings with schools, mental health facilities, child protection review teams, and other professionals; attending court hearings; serving as an information and referral source to other employees and the public; and completing ancillary assignments such as case record maintenance and required reports. Scheduling Normal work hours are 8 am–4:30 pm Monday through Friday; however, duties may require on‑call availability for Aurora Police Department during after‑hours raids and warrants. Qualifications Three (3) years of full‑time professional social casework experience after completing a human behavioral sciences degree in a public or private social services agency. An MSW substitutes for eight (8) months of the required experience. A BSW or Master’s in a human behavioral science field substitutes for three (3) months of the required experience. Must pass a criminal background check and possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
