Associate Attorney – Banking & Commercial Finance / Real Estate Finance
Location: One Gateway Center, Newark, NJ
About the Role
MSW is seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join the firm’s Banking & Commercial Finance and Real Estate Finance practice groups. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven attorney to work on sophisticated financing transactions alongside a collaborative, client-focused team.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent lenders and borrowers in a wide range of commercial finance transactions , including secured and unsecured credit facilities
- Advise clients on real estate finance matters , including acquisition, construction, and permanent financing
- Draft, review, and negotiate loan and financing documentation
- Conduct diligence reviews, including analysis of contracts, title, and organizational documents
- Coordinate transaction closings and interact directly with clients, opposing counsel, and third-party stakeholders
- Stay current on regulatory developments impacting finance and real estate transactions
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in banking/finance or real estate finance (law firm experience preferred)
- Experience with loan documentation and transactional work
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Admission to practice in New Jersey and/or New York or eligibility to waive in
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to both commercial lending and real estate finance transactions
- Experience representing financial institutions, private lenders, or borrowers
- Familiarity with complex or structured finance deals
