Shift: Monday through Friday 6:15am to 2:45pm

Position Purpose:

Prepare Aerospace parts for painting

Essential Duties and responsibilities

• Follow Lean Manufacturing and 6s practices
• Visually inspect parts prior to painting to identify failures and damage. Report all parts that appear damaged or incorrectly processed to Paint Shop Supervisora
• Ensure parts to be painted are clear of dirt or foreign material, and clean them if necessary
• Review work orders for missed processes and fill out/maintain paperwork
• Prepare parts using tools such as sandpaper, electric sander, etc. to achieve finish look of Drawing/Specification/Traveler callout
• Prepare a mix and apply a putty mix to non-conforming areas of the parts
• Maintain knowledge of current specifications and call outs
• Touching up and/or masking and unmasking of parts
• Follow hazardous chemical and waste handling procedures
• Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properly. This includes maintaining the area of the face where the respirator seals are clean and hair free
• Must be able to read and interpret all MSDS sheets on all chemicals being used
• Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency
• Maintain safe working practices and ensure area is clean and free of any possible unsafe situations 
• Responsible for following all established Vaupell policies, standard operating procedures and safety practices
• Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications/Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Six months to one-year related paint experience preferred
• Skill in prioritizing and managing a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to use a computer for basic Microsoft Office functions (includes Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and ability to apply basic mathematical skills to the work environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team oriented, and ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Skill in organizing, identifying, and recognizing differences or similarities
• Adaptable to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace
• Accepting constructive criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with stressful situations
• Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to wear and properly use the required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to read, speak, understand and follow instructions in English.

Environmental Condition

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform physical activities commonly associated with manufacturing and paint preparation work. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position or move about the work area as needed; regularly use hands and fingers for grasping, handling, feeling, fine manipulation, and eye-hand coordination; and frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials and parts, generally up to 25 pounds and occasionally 25 to 50 pounds or more with assistance or proper equipment as needed. The role may also require bending, reaching above and below shoulder level, turning or twisting, and occasional use of stairs, ladders, kneeling, balancing, or similar movements. Visual abilities, including near and far acuity, depth perception, and color perception, are required to inspect parts, identify defects, read work instructions, and verify paint preparation quality. The employee must be able to hear ordinary workplace communication and safety signals.
