Job Title: Transmission Engineer - Transmission & Distribution Location: Minneapolis or Duluth, MN or Sioux Falls or Bismarck, NDContract length: Direct Hire Pay: Compensation discussions are handled directly with qualified candidates during the interview process. You can assume market pay for these roles and our base and bonus compensation package will meet the requirements.Transmission Engineer - Transmission & Distribution QualificationsBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program or Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examMaster of Science degree in Civil Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experienceMinimum of 3 years of experience in transmission engineering, 5+ years of experience preferredPrior consulting experience is strongly preferredSuccessful completion (i.e.passing) FE or EIT preferredStrong knowledge in standard civil/structural engineering techniques and proceduresExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skillsStrong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite and PLS-CADD)Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skillsTransmission Engineer - Transmission & Distribution DescriptionPerform transmission design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completionModify and review transmission components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managersPrepare transmission equipment: packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendationsPerform economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance and grounding calculations/studiesCompile calculations for required electrical clearances based on NESC or other applicable codes and resourcesPrepare communications of the interpretation and application of necessary NERC, FERC and regional requirements and standardsApplies strong knowledge of commonly used transmission engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the transmission engineering services industryResearch and compile project related data as required by the project managersCompiles studies and reportsWrites specificationsUpdate drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related softwareCompiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilitiesPerforms field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clientsAll other duties as assigned
