Client Service Monitor - PT Part Time Northridge, CA, US Hope Mission Statement The mission of Hope the Mission is to prevent, reduce and eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness by offering immediate assistance and long-term solutions. Overview The Client Services Monitor (CSM) works directly on-site and is responsible for keeping participants safe, supporting daily operations, community standards and helping Hope the Mission's Interim Housing programs run smoothly. The CSM creates a safe, structured, and respectful environment where every participant is treated with dignity and fairness. This role requires consistent attendance, good judgment, and genuine care for individuals experiencing homelessness. Many participants have faced instability, crisis, and trauma; calm, compassionate engagement helps establish safety and routine that supports progress toward stable housing. The CSM reports to the Program Manager or Assistant Program Manager and collaborates with site staff to ensure the program runs well, meets contract requirements, and reflects Hope the Mission’s values in every interaction. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Facility Maintenance and Sanitation: assist with routine cleaning of all facility areas to maintain cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness; clean and disinfect restrooms and shower areas after each use; maintain sanitary restroom and sink conditions; complete deep cleaning of restrooms and common areas; monitor and maintain hygiene areas and community areas; ensure resources are stocked; wash, dry, and prepare towels; monitor laundry rooms, restrooms, and common areas for cleanliness; maintain accurate shower and restroom usage logs. Participant Safety and Monitoring: conduct wellness checks each shift; monitor participant movement and site activity to promote safety and program compliance; conduct routine site walk-throughs and safety checks; support contraband control and safety procedures; respond to incidents and emergencies using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques and follow incident reporting protocols; support emergency responses until leadership or first responders arrive. Participant Services and Engagement: provide direct, respectful assistance to participants; assist with intake, orientation, and explanation of site guidelines; distribute hygiene supplies; support meal service, supply distribution, and general operational duties. Documentation and Reporting: complete Daily Activity Reports (DARs) accurately and timely; conduct intake, exit, and case notes in HMIS where applicable; assist with documentation related to participant movements, wellness concerns, or incidents; observe and report safety concerns and unusual occurrences to site leadership. Shift Operations: provide support during shift pass-downs and communicate updates between shifts; provide coverage as scheduled; perform other duties as assigned. Skills Strong observation and situational awareness Trauma-informed communication and de-escalation Ability to maintain professional boundaries with participants Clear, objective, and professional written documentation Ability to follow policies, procedures, and chain of command Strong teamwork and communication skills Basic computer and email proficiency Ability to lead with integrity and uphold organizational mission, values, and service philosophy Ability to cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with community-based organizations and external service providers Maintains professionalism, empathy, and sound decision-making in challenging environments Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Previous experience in homeless services, shelter operations or social service preferred Knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles preferred Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays Mandatory Requirements Background screening – employment contingent upon successful completion of background checks Drug and alcohol testing – pre-employment and ongoing screenings as per policy Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check – acceptable driving record for roles requiring driving Legal eligibility to work in the US Compliance with company policies and HIPAA standards Physical Demands and Environment The physical demands describe the essential functions and may require accommodations.
